Product Story
Inspired by Kenya's tradition of working with natural materials, the Bamboo Modern Boat reflects the creativity and craftsmanship of local artisans. The making process begins with carefully selecting bamboo, which is cleaned, dried, and cut into suitable lengths. The bamboo pieces are then shaped and arranged to form the distinctive boat-like structure, with strings used to secure the components together. The surface is carefully smoothed and finished with varnish to enhance its natural appearance, protect the bamboo, and give the product a refined finish.
Bamboo and other natural plant materials have long been valued in Kenyan communities for their versatility in creating household items, structures, and decorative crafts. The boat-inspired design also evokes the importance of water transport and fishing traditions among communities living along Kenya's lakes and coastal regions. By combining natural bamboo with a contemporary decorative design, the Bamboo Modern Boat reflects the adaptability of traditional craftsmanship and celebrates the connection between nature, cultural heritage, and modern African artistry."
